Mitsubishi GT25 / GT27: Choosing a Compatible HMI

InverterPLC technical team · Published 2026-10-30 · 5 min read

When the GOT2000 touchscreen on a machine goes dark, the operator loses start/stop, alarms, recipes and production counts all at once — the machine may still run, but nobody can control it. The good news: HMI panels fail in well-understood ways, and a replacement is one of the easiest drops in the cabinet if you check five things before you order.

First: is the panel actually dead?

Unlike drives, HMIs report faults as symptoms rather than alarm codes. Work down this table before spending money:

SymptomUsual causeQuick check
Completely dark, no backlightNo 24 V DC at the panelMeasure the supply and the connector — a tripped feed or a chafed cable is more common than a dead panel
Backlit but blank screenDisplay or logic board failureIf communication LEDs still blink, the panel runs headless — the board, not the project, is the fault
Touch offset or dead zonesTouch layer wear or lost calibrationRun touch calibration first; if drift returns within days, the touch layer is worn out
Communication error bannerCable, connector or PLC-side settingCheck the Ethernet link and the station settings before blaming the panel
SD card / USB read errorsWorn card slot or failing cardTry a fresh card; logging failures rarely mean the whole panel is gone
Repeated reboots or frozen at logoPower supply sagging under load, or internal faultMeasure 24 V under load; if stable, the panel itself is the fault

Backlight lifetime is finite — a panel that has run three shifts for six years is at the end of its lamp or LED life, and dimming followed by flicker is a scheduled-replacement signal, not a mystery fault.

The five checks before ordering a compatible panel

  1. Screen size and resolution. GOT2000 panels span roughly 5.7 to 15 inches and VGA to SXGA+. Order the size that matches your panel cutout — a bigger screen means a bigger hole, and that is a workshop job you do not want.
  2. Communication ports and protocol. Confirm how the current panel talks to the PLC: Ethernet (MELSEC TCP/UDP), serial, or a network option card. The replacement must support the same protocol, or the project will not connect on power-up.
  3. Project software compatibility. This is the one that catches buyers out. GOT2000 projects are built in GT Works3. A compatible panel has to import that project file — ask before you order, and send us the file if you are not sure.
  4. Mounting and cutout. Compare the mounting hole dimensions and the terminal layout against the existing panel, plus the depth behind the door.
  5. Functions the machine actually uses. Data logging, recipe management, multi-language screens, MES connection, multi-device monitoring — confirm the features your operators rely on, not just the picture quality.

Where compatible panels fit

A generic compatible HMI is built to the cutout, port layout and project format of the series it replaces, so it mounts in the same hole, accepts the same cables and loads the same project file. For MRO buyers the gain is lead time and cost on a panel line that has moved on — and a spare you can standardise across several machines.

Our standing recommendation for a first order: buy one, load your project, run it a week, then buy the batch. Send us the model number off the nameplate and your GT Works3 project file, and we will confirm the match before you pay.

Migration checklist

Built for washdown and coastal air

Panels on food lines and in coastal plants die from water and salt, not electronics. Compatible panels carry an IP67F-rated front face for washdown, with conformal coating and anti-salt-fog treatment on the boards behind it. AC power variants accept both 50 and 60 Hz networks.

Stock, warranty and shipping

Panels marked In Stock dispatch within 2–4 business days after payment. Every unit is inspected before shipment and covered by a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects, with worldwide shipping.

Looking for the part itself? See the Compatible Mitsubishi GT25/GT27 HMI — inspected before shipment, tropicalized for humid climates, 12-month warranty.
